On May the 31st, GESI secretariat hosted a seminar on “The Use of Evidence synthesis in the Environmental field and the concept of systematic maps. Dr. Neal Haddaway, from the Mistra Council for Evidence Based Environmental Management, delivered the seminar. The seminar was highly attended and was livestreamed on GESI’s social media. GESI participated in the What Works Global Summit

This week Jo, Morwenna and Alison have been in London for the first What Works Global Summit an exciting five days of workshops, presentations, meetings and networking. Between us we attended sessions on evidence gap maps, raising media awareness, getting evidence into practice, reducing the prison populations in the US, pearl harvesting, engaging with decision makers, accountability for evidence in policy making, making systematic reviews ‘fit for purpose’ and many more. 28 April sees the launch of a new secretariat at the American University of Beirut for the Global Evidence Synthesis Initiative (GESI), an international consortium established to enhance the capacity for research synthesis worldwide.
